These beautiful sisal catchall baskets were handmade using ancient Swazi weaving techniques. Paired with the contemporary designs, the women articans who create these meticulously woven baskets out of sisal pour their heart and talent into each piece. Sisal is a plant in the agave family that grows throughout Swaziland. Because it is considered an invasive weed, sisal is ideal for artisan craft production since harvesting the plant does not threaten the country’s natural biodiversity.

Over 700 women supplement their income by performing different aspects of the creative process including preparing raw sisal, dying it, and weaving them into their final designs.

Each sisal basket comes with a string attached to the back so that you can hang it on the wall. In addition to making a beautiful table display or catchall tray, these baskets can also be hung as art and combined seamlessly into any gallery-style art wall.
